Ascension Comp Seminar + Community Comp
Experience what it’s like to compete —
from prep to performance.
What’s it like to climb under pressure?
Every season, only a handful of finalists get to experience the intensity of a true bouldering finals round — ISO, timers, loud music, and the spotlight.
This November, we’re opening that experience to everyone.
Join our Competition Seminar + Community Comp to learn the strategies, mindset, and logistics behind competition climbing, then test them in a real finals-style round.
Event Details
Due to a scheduling conflict, we’ll have to postpone this clinic and event. We’re currently looking at the first week of December, with the competition portion on December 5. Clinics may come sooner.
Competition Clinic:
- Date TBD
2.5 hours: warm-ups, HIIT/strength for comps, nutrition, movement strategy, finals rules (4 minutes each + 4-minute rest), and how to read zone/top holds.
Community Competition :
- Date TBD
You’ll register in advance, show up for ISO, warm up in the zone, then climb through 5-6 routes with timers, music, judges, and full finals flavor. Routes paired by ability (V2-V6) so everyone competes at a meaningful level.
Actual competition time will be approximately 40 minutes per competitor (5 total routes). ISO will begin 40 minutes to one hour before your scheduled start time.

The lights. The music. The clock.
It’s your turn to climb.
Led by Ascension’s competition coaches Lee & Cassidy, with support from Team Ascension athletes.
Space will be limited — registration opens soon!
Cost: $15 per clinic / $15 for the community comp ( $30 total if you do both )
We’re keeping the cost low so more climbers can experience the excitement of competition climbing in full.
If you enjoy the event, please consider donating to support Team Ascension’s travel fund — helping our youth athletes reach regional and national competitions this season.
Whether you’re looking to compete for the first time or want to see what it feels like under the lights, this event is for you.
Registration opens soon — sign up early to secure your spot.
Divisions
To keep things fair and fun, climbers will be placed into divisions based on their flash grade — the hardest grade you typically send first try without falling.
Here’s how each division breaks down:
Beginner / Recreational
Flash Grade: V2
If you typically flash V2 and send some of the V3s you try, this is the division for you.
Intermediate
Flash Grade: V3
If you consistently flash most V3s and occasionally send V4s after a few tries, you’ll fit right here.
Advanced
Flash Grade: V4 – V5
For climbers who usually flash V4s and regularly send V5s. Expect powerful, technical moves and steeper terrain.
Open
Flash Grade: V6+
If you’re flashing V6s or harder, this one’s for you. Finals routes will be challenging, with comp-style movement and complexity.
